How to transform your crafts business into a luxury handmade brand

Image
Have you noticed that most luxury brands have a lot in common with the handmade industry? They produce and sell beautiful and often unique products, they definitely have part (if not all) of their product made by the hands of an artisan, they pay extra attention to the customer’s experience, the quality of the product is perfect, the product has a high value, they put a lot of passion into defining, creating, and perfecting their product...the list goes on. Vendio 2019 in review

Image
2019 was for sure a great year for all of us, and looking back we have plenty of reasons to celebrate. There were great improvements on the Vendio platform, including additions to our supported selling channels. Through great successes and hard challenges, we managed to build on our relationships with our loyal sellers, and also have fun at work with an amazing team. Check out the main accomplishments that we recall from this year:   Vendio celebrates 20 years of serving sellers - In 1999, when the age of independent online sellers began, Vendio was born as one of the third-party providers to serve those businesses. Originally an online search tool for auction sites, Vendio has grown over the years into a full fledged inventory management solution for small and medium sellers of all types, and lately added a selling solution dedicated to handmade sellers. Celebrating 20 years of serving sellers was simply amazing. We got so many nice words from sellers that were with us from the v...

Going full-time with your handmade business

Image
There is a massive difference between a hobbyist that sometimes makes their own items and maybe sells them online, and an entrepreneur that makes their own items and sells them online as a business. That business could be a small one in its infancy providing money for a vacation fund (with plans to grow), or an 80 hour a week job that pays the bills and puts food on a hand-painted plate. For a handmade artisan that prefers to focus on their craft and creations, moving toward a full-time business can be scary and sometimes even terrifying. Perhaps you are at that point, though, where you think you can make it work. But where to start? Is this the right decision for you at this time? First make sure that this is what you want and that you are ready for it. Running your own business takes skills and knowledge that perhaps aren’t your area of expertise. There are ways to compensate for this and to get the most out of your skill set (whatever that may be), but you need to be sure you are ok...

For quite a while now we, the people at Vendio, had a courageous dream of offering an original service dedicated to Handmade sellers. This came from an older passion of ours that became a plan, and with the help of a handful of programmers, after adding many hours of brainstorming and market studies, it turned into reality.   Yes, you’re hearing it right! It is live and ready for you to use to grow and expand your handmade business – the Vendio Tool to Sell Handmade Products!   Just in time to catch the beginning of the last quarter of 2019, Vendio engaged into a new adventure, a handmade adventure, a terrain less touched by 3rd party tools. We feel there is room to make things easier and better for handmade sellers. We feel this tool can help them manage and grow their online businesses and we are committed to making it do so.   What can you do using this tool? You can now easily launch to Amazon Handmade. Happy 20th Anniversary!

How is it that twenty years can seem like a really short amount of time and a really long amount of time simultaneously? It was about twenty years ago that Vendio was born. The company was called AuctionWatch back then, and the original vision was to support the growth and expansion of auction marketplaces. Remember Yahoo Auctions? How about Amazon Auctions? Times sure have changed. We started with basic services like counters and image hosting, and then added the ability to list auctions through our service. Still called AuctionWatch, we even had an appearance on Oprah! A few years later in April of 2003 we changed our name to Vendio Services Inc. and started adding additional services like customer manager and image watermarking. In 2004 we launched the Vendio Gallery, which remains one of our most popular services to this day. During this time (before Facebook had become the social communication method that most people used) the Vendio community message boards were busy . Sel...
